After reading the "I lost $8k in 15 minutes with Verizon and Coinbase…" story and thread, I finally got wise and purchased a Ledger Nano S.

So, as I wait for delivery, and try to learn more and more about being a secure personal bank for myself, what advice can you give me?

Some basic questions:

I am a little nervous about the process of transferring all my exchange balances to my private wallet (more than one exchange and more than one currency). What pitfalls are there to avoid?

Once I have the balances transferred, what recommendations do you have for long term holding?

What about the process of continually adding to the balance?

Anything else?

Very happy to have links to things I might have missed in my self education already.

Thanks for the hints and thanks for being a great community to continually be a (satoshi sized) part of!
