Example showing why Bitcoin > Patreon

Two days ago a popular youtuber and activist put up a video stating that his Patreon account had been shut down, essentially because they object to his politics. (He's the kind of person antifa calls a Nazi, chases and beats up. In other words, basically not a member of antifa. Did I mention Patreon has antifa ties?)

The good news is that in the description of his video was an address for bitcoin donations. Since the video was published, it looks like there've been about 30 bitcoin donations for a total of about 0.5 bitcoins. Not a bad show of support, and shows why Patreon (and others like PayPal) can't effectively act as gatekeepers anymore.

I've decided not to link to his video or say his name, so this post isn't interpreted as soliciting further donations. It's a great story though, and I wanted to make sure someone pointed it out.
